First Time Bantu Knotter

Apr 21, 2009 00:47

Hey all!

I live in Tokyo, Japan, and doing my hair here can get frustrating sometimes, because not everything that we natural girls need is as available as it might be in Europe or the United States and I am so sick and tired of dragging a flat iron through my poor hair! I am also trying to grow my hair longer (last January I cut off ALL my hair with my twin sister, and we rocked braids for about six months until we saw growth).

So, I searched on youtube and found out how to do bantu knots.

Since I don't have work tomorrow, and can stay up until all hours of the night, I made several attempts at the knots. Each attempt was progressively better, and the finished product is halfway decent. I will keep trying until I can get my bantu knots perfect!

So, here are the pics!

Okay, so it was 1am by the time I got finished, so I was a little slap-happy, lol. I almost forgot to wrap my head! I am not accustomed to it!

As a reference, this is my hair when it is left to air dry (I have it pulled back in a semi ponytail, and the bangs are left loose). When I take out the bantu knots, I am hoping for a little more definition and fluffiness to my hair! Here's to hoping! Tomorrow I will post pictures of the finished product!

BTW, if you care, these pics were taken with my minicomputer camera. My real camera suffered a fatal and tragic accident, when my twin sister, keeni84 spilled shoyu sauce, or water on it...or something.

Anyway, that's all she wrote, folks! Thanks for indulging in my Tokyo hair odyssey and my first post here!
