I am sure you are already on top of it, but I hope you are able to find out the source of the behavioral issues. I think most people in this group are into doing that sort of thing anyway.

Two things come to mind. Acting out... if something has happened or something is really bothering or scaring a child they can start acting very badly. (Even "good" kids.)

And diet of course. I have heard of kids with serious behavioral or even ADD/ADHD symptoms turn around when put on some sort of non-artificial diet, lacking things such as food colorings, sugars and preservatives I think it was.

Anyway, good luck with everything. I was home schooled for a short time due to "behavioral" stuff. I actually really liked my school as it was a private school but I liked the home schooling too. One thing that really got me down though were the feelings of isolation and rejection. So maybe along with the acedemic side of things if there is something you can do to alleve the potentially severe isolation feelings it might help with focus on the studies as well.

The diet mentioned above for ADHD and the like is the Feingold Program. Check out feingold.org for more info. This has helped my son's behavior unbelievably. And it's not just the artificial dyes and preservatives that are sometimes a problem. Our diet was already free of those, but our issue was the naturally occuring salicylates in some fruits and veggies. Once we cut those out, he became a different kid in about a month's time.
