JET INTERVIEW DATE RECEIVED
Now I must flail and fret and worry and prepare. It's Tuesday, Feb 17th at 4:30pm. So much for maybe spending some extra time being touristy in NYC. I mean, I still could but I have to be back in Buffalo at like, noon on Wed in order to ah... not miss class.
Henceforth this post shall be my big flaily list of things I need to do (so people can poke me when I forget something stupid) before the interview. This will be a stream-of-consciousness note thing. It may only make sense to me. T^Tb
*make travel plans
**My choices are bus or car. I just looked at bus schedules and they arrive at either ridiculously early in the morning or late in the evening. This isn't bad per se. I can work with it (though what I would do with like, 7 hours free time I have no idea). And of course, car is dependent on weather. And... ah, driving in the city which terrifies me. My finances are good so both are affordable.
* Confirm interview and fill out the forms Just finished.
**Photo: I have one at home. Just need to go and get it or get it mailed
* Interview attire
**I am thinking the more formal the better. I need to go get a proper business suit.
** haircut? I dunno. It's been a couple months and my hair is a little on the shaggy side. My roots are kinda showing too.
**glasses adjusted: they're crooked. this can't look presentable. Might want to do it day before though, lest I get whacked with a shinai or something during kendo.
* Interview materials
** Updated resume
*** list of personal references? ...can't hurt, I suppose.
** things I have probably forgotten go here.
* Interview prep
**Find those sample interview questions people talked about last post.
**Talk to past interviewees
**Prepare a mock lesson plan? This might be a very good idea. I could put together materials too... On the other hand it might look too eager/arrogant? ack.
**Have in mind solutions to common teaching problems. This at least, can't hurt at all.
**Brush up on my Japanese. Vocab vocab vocab. Review some grammar. I don't know if this is necessary but if they DO ask about my Japanese I don't want to freeze up and look like an idiot.
** practice avoiding um and er and slang. Contractions too? Also work on intonation and inflection.
**review my TESL stuff. They will probably ask about it. Must sound knowledgeable and not hesitant.
**DON'T PANIC
I already know I've left out something important. I will go flail now.
