Coincidentally I've heard a few references to prostate milking in the last few days, which got me curious to read up on it.

For a while now I've wondered what causes the actual force when men ejaculate, because it's notably strong, with no clear sensory feedback of what's causing it other than the force of the spurts. Even after reading about it some, I'm still unclear. My best guess is that there are some specialized muscles for just that thrusting, although it's also possible that it's caused by rhythmic clenching of the surrounding ordinary muscles, or some non-muscular mechanism. My guess is based on having gotten reasonably good at controlling ejaculation using the feedback from doing it, although that's very tricky to do because there doesn't seem to be any direct sensory control from the muscle whatsoever - I can only get information indirectly from the force of thrusts, and when I'm just sitting around, I have no sense of it whatsoever. If someone can fill me in on the mechanics, I'd be happy to hear about it. You'd think that after years of sex ed in school and several books on sexuality read I'd have come across this information, but it's either rarely covered or I coincidentally always manage to miss it.

Anyhow, as explained here the prostate gland is where the fluid in semen comes from and pools up before ejaculation. It's possible to manually apply pressure to the prostate from the inside of ones anus, which is a commonly given reason for straight guys liking things shoved up their butt. While bizarre, this claim is fairly plausible. Human emotions and body movement interact as a two way street, so for example when one feels happy one smiles, but when one smiles it also makes one feel happy. Usually when one smiles both effects are happening. I don't recommend trying to smile to make one feel happy though - forcing it usually clenches certain muscles in one's cheeks below the eyes which make one look, and feel, angry.

My point was, directly applying pressure to the prostate to trigger a strong ejaculation probably results in much the same sensations as having a strong ejaculation without anything up one's butt. The effect is probably most pronounced in people who for whatever reason lack the ability to stimulate themselves sufficiently through the usual stimuli, for example those whose mind-body connection is generally sucky.

So, if you ever wondered why uptight guys have a reputation for shoving sticks up their butt, now you know.

On to a topic which doesn't have anything to do with people shoving stuff up their butt, it turns out that the g-spot is the female analogue of the prostate. Sort of like how males have nipples. Directly stimulating that area can in some women trigger a male-style orgasm in a similar way to how stimulating the prostate in men can. This explains why g-spot orgasms are sometimes described as feeling very different. The sexual centers for the opposite gender occur in the brains of all people, but in most cases they're smaller and much less used. Probably in some females the male center is just sitting there doing not much of anything except when the g-spot is stimulated sufficiently, producing a unique, and for some women pleasurable, experience.

And that's all the commentary we'll have on people shoving things up their butt. Next week's commentary will be on people who like shoving large objects up their left nostril.
