Action post 4: Campfire shenanigans.

Jul 11, 2010 16:29

[Snufkin doesn't have much to go by...there are trees around here, and plenty of grass, but grass smokes when its burned unless it's dry. Nevertheless, it produces a nice, smoky smell, so he gathers as much of it up as he can.

He takes some silly looking clothes out of the closet that look flammable enough, then scours the house for matches.
When he's gathered the campfire materials in the front yard, he rips out a circle of grass so that the lawn won't set on fire, leaving a circular patch of dirt. He piles the thin clothes on, some dry grass, and two table legs that he's broken up, before stuffing the newspaper he got on the first day under it and lighting it. It's a measly fire, but it's familiar, and the grass makes it smell pleasant.

When he's sure it's not going to set anything on fire, he grabs two pillows from inside the house, thinking they might be nice to sit on. He also takes the honey-glazed insects he made, though he doubts John will want any.

He surveys the holes he made in the yard earlier that morning with some degree of satisfaction before watching the gaudy clothes he selected crumple and burn in the fire. Yes, this is nice.]
