Firefly, Mal/any, speaking- Mal/Inara
When it came to it, he missed her refined defiance. Her haughty eyes, that certain smile she only used when she thinks he’s acting a fool. The Gorram woman had scornful words aplenty she would deign to grace him with like he was some back-planet hick who’d never been off world before when she had a mind to, but she could say more with the silent quirk of her lips than some folks could in a thousand words.
‘Course, it was mightily harder to fight with her now she’d left the safety of Serenity for her Aiya silk-covered training house.
Supernatural, Dean/Bela, rough He’s not her typical type to be sure. Slightly backwoods, unrefined around the edges, blindly loyal to others to a fault, and rarely seen not in flannel and denim- hardly the conventional expensive suit that’s easily relived of his wallet and other valuables the morning after she coyly ‘accidentally’ catches their eye at an upscale bar.
But there’s something to how much fun he’s been to set up to take the fall time and time again- she just might miss that the most once he and his even more indigently innocent brother fail to either stop or save her this time.
Supernatural/BtVS, Dean/Buffy, "fine, if you kill more vampires than me I'll go out with you" This was getting ridiculous.
For the fifth time in as many months the wannabe Playboy hunter had showed up at the small town watering hole she was running down leads in and was- once again- trying to charm her into letting him buy her a few rounds. Sure, his smile might be cute and he certainly toted around enough spell ingredients, weapons, and ancient lore in his car to seduce any other member of the Scoobies, but the guy really could not take a hint to save his life.
Maybe a set challenge he couldn’t win would finally discourage him.
Any, Any, too weird to live, too rare to die - Animorphs, Tobias (/Rachel)
He’d been a certain brand of freak before the Yeerks had crashed into his life, but being a shy kid from a bad home hadn’t made him uniquely unusual in and of itself in the overcrowded halls of his school.
Being the only boy in existence willingly trapped in the body of a hawk and hiding from human society after his girlfriend died fighting aliens, however? That caught the attention of people around the world-rarely in a good way. (He wasn’t Marco, there was nothing healing about the spotlight for him.)
Mostly he wishes Rachel had taken him with her.
