Done for
rattyjol's prompt Animorphs, David/Rachel, rage, rage, against like the dying of the light

She hates that he made her kill him more than anything he ever actually did to anyone she loves or to her, sometimes.
She's killed before, of course- more times than anyone else in the group would like to think about, and less times Jake will ever admit to sending her personally to handle- but David's death still hits her harder and twists her up insides more than she would have expected this many months later.
He was evil, twisted, betrayed them, could have killed Cassie in cold blood, had tried to kill Tobias---
But she didn't kill David that day as a grizzly, with its' poor vision that blurs the light of life burning out in another's eyes to the point she doesn't have to see what she's done anymore, nor did she finish him off as a polar bear in the thick of a battle so bloody and chaotic that no one can really be sure later if this person or that Hork Bajr actually died from her claws and teeth- or not.
Instead, she ended his life kneeling amid discarded litter on the dirty, stained pavement of a little used alleyway, and he just looked at her with his beady, tiny rat eyes.
She hates him for his final words the most, though ---
--- she doesn't want David's forgiveness for this crime, dammit.

Minor prompt fail, but this is what came to me. Done for
rattyjol's prompt Animorphs, any, the happy ending they should have had
here at
comment_fic . I TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY COULD NOT MAKE THIS FLUFFY.

There were other scenarios run, of course.
Tweaks have been made to the line up, the time line has been shifted in both directions, the Yeerks have known their rivals on Earth identities sooner and occasionally never found them out at all until the last shot was fired.
No matter what he does, however, Ax never follows in his older brother's footsteps and stays on Earth for long, Rachel still ends ups dying- her mind, her heart, her body- more times than not, Tobias can't quite decided which of his two selves he wants to be no matter what motivation he is given to regain his humanity, Cassie survives the war best by putting it and everyone from it behind her, and Jake always always makes one too many terrible calls that trail behind him like a second shadow and nip at his soul with needle-sharp teeth whenever he starts to forget about them for too long.
Marco usually turns out the closest to how the boy claimed he had wanted, for some reason- even the ill-fated scenario where his mother's blood is on his hands before the dust settles he still plows forward superficially the best.
Finally the Ellimist realizes that maybe 'his' six were meant to end the way they did, and decides to leave well enough alone.
---For them, at least.
