A/N: Prompt was 'Taylor, first time sunbathing after the fire' on lj's comment_fic… Which I filled and then realized *I* was the one who prompted a month ago. Whoops. ;)

Temptation is the fire that brings up the scum of the heart.

The boy to her left was watching her.
He was of average height, sturdily built, and not nearly in the league of someone she would have considered allowing carrying her books or honor with "checking" her homework... Before the fire.
Today, with the sun beaming down on skin that has no organic nerve endings and warming joints that are made of metal, Taylor considers allowing herself to award this nameless, beach bum adolescent something she never would have given him before- a smile. After all, no one has seen her for weeks, and she has much slippery social ground to regain.
So she smiles at Jared? Aaron? Jason? His name is not forthcoming- or at least she tries, but she has forgotten one thing.
Her pinked lips, her perfectly sculpted calves, her attractively curved- yet meticulously toned- hips, and her barely covered chest whose generous edges draw the gaze of her observer are no longer strictly hers to purse, strut, work, or tease with.
But perhaps…
{We may need him,} she thinks to her new guest captor, friend, self. {Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but …}
{A test subject,} the other, recent addition to Taylor ponders, {to see if you were worth the investment. Of course.}
