Spent Friday after hellish travel chatting with arwel and icklejo who were unexpectedly chez Nev and mrssshhh Bit of a chat and to bed ... Saturday involved a trip into manchester, bought football boots and some Euros. God, the football boots, last time I bought a new pair of boots was about 8 years ago. They died on boxing day when I played for my brother's team in a friendly, so new team, new boots.
8 years ago, boots were boots, they came in black. The difference came in the clolour of the studs and the brand logo. Yes, Red boots existed, because some star somewhere wore them, but if you wore red boots, you were either good, or a poser, either one got you kicked. The most expensive boots were the first generation predators, at £80 they were very expensive, but guaranteed to make you able to bend the ball like mighty mouse or rocket it like hotshot hamish.
Yesterday, I got hit with 4 brands, 8 colours, and innumerable styles. Do I was F50+ or Predator adidas? Do I want power core sole or standard? Do I want white, red, blue, green, yellow, black?
So, after 2 hours and about 12 pairs, I found a pair that fit and bought them. They are white and Red (Good arsenal colours) and made by Nike. My grandfather would turn in his grave if he saw me wearing them. Clearly I am either good, or a poser. I'd have got black ones, but the cheapest pair were £80
Following that, went to Claire's house (Nevs best friend) for a dvd/chinese birthday thingy. Ate nice bbq duck with ginger and pineapple, watched 2 movies. Kinky Boots and American Dreamz.
Both were enjoyable, I would recommend the former to anyone. The latter pushed the right buttons and made for a fun watch. Hugh Grant was very good, and not at all Hugh Grant in a hugh grant movie by Richard Curtis.
So, today I am off on my first ever business trip. I'd feel important, except I know enough people who make them regularly and hate it. It's a training course in Bonn, over 2 days, so I will have a single night to go out and see/do something. Anyone have any suggestions for a thing to do in Bonn for the evening?
