Well, first off, tonight I'm hanging my latest solo show which I'm calling the "NYC Horror Show." Every piece represents one of those things that folks who dwell here in the city fear. Think... bedbugs or crazy cab drivers and things like that. It's been a lot of spooky fun to work on and a healthy way to vent my frustration at our own bedbug ( Read more... )

Excellent concept for subject matter. I'm especially interested in seeing your crazy cab drivers since my NYC experiences with such are 50% unpleasant, with one notable one filed under "Jesus Christ just stop the car; I want to get the fuck away from you."

I've always "hated" cab drivers, but I never truly hated them until I was in a really bad accident in one a few years ago and had to climb out of the window. Thank god I ALWAYS wear my seat belt even in cabs (I'll never get why people don't in cabs?) I've only had one driver... ONE!... who I thought was friendly, polite, and a good driver!

And this is why I, at all costs, try to take the subway unless a cab is of utmost necessity.

I take the subway because it's cheaper. 7.50 for an all-day pass vs. constantly having to open the wallet every time you want to go somewhere, plus the subway doesn't expect a tip.

Worst cabbie ever: the nutjob (schizophrenic? maybe, I wasn't about to ask him what his diagnosis was) that muttered angrily to himself the whole ride, picking at the stubble on his face obsessively with what appeared to be sandpaper between his fingers, and reading a catalog at every red light and not driving on the green until someone behind honked their horn. We bolted as soon as possible.

We once had a guy who kept FALLING ASLEEP at every stop light. SCARY.

And, this common scare is exactly why "Cab Driver" made it into my show! :)
