I have a heartbeat. It is possibly the most wonderful feeling in the world, the most beautiful sound in a room silenced by the night and darkness. For the longest time, I would lie before sleep, and nothing but the ticking could be heard.
Now my heartbeat drowns it. Oh, to be alive again--

Or at least, try to. Damned animals roaming the City; that just takes away time better spent outdoors! Does anyone know a way of safe passage to the beach beyond the Forest, by the way?
