my dreams tend to be bizzarre. take yesterday's for example.

i was supposed to attend some kind of kenduri with my family. i showed up at the venue (i think it was some sort of hotel) decked in a pair of shorts that showed off the red mosquito bite marks on my thighs and a floral print shirt, while everyone else around me were dressed in formal malay attire. i got annoyed at my parents for not informing me beforehand about the dresscode. (← what am i, stupid? it's a kenduri, duh.)

ah well, too late to change now. so i took a seat at the table to eat. as i was tucking in a kid approached me and held out a folded piece of bank note to me, as if to say, "hey, you dropped this." but i shook my head, saying it wasn't mine. then suddenly i remembered i received 50 ringgit before -- could i have lost it? i was going to call the boy back but he had already proceeded to ask these foreigners who were seated next to me (i figured the kid was theirs). while i was figuring out how i should approach them, the foreigners unfolded the note to reveal that it was an RM703 note! (nani kono bimyou na suuji...) and not only that, there were several of them -- three or four or five, i think. i was like, wow, that's a lot of money!

the foreigners stood up to hand it to the lost and found, and i tailed after them. on the way, i came across a display exhibiting the RM703 bill that was supposedly rare and not produced anymore. it had a picture of an old-fashioned kampung house surrounded by flowers. moving along, it turned out that the foreigners had turned in the money to the emcee of the function, and the emcee was now calling on the pengarah lembaga hasil dalam negeri (?? i don't quite remember, it sounded something like that), who happened to be present, to take care of it.

i don't remember what happened after... i think that was when i woke up thinking what the hell??

actually, there were other parts to the dream, like the part where i got dressed up for the kenduri that resulted in that inappropriate getup, but alas, most of the details escape me. all i remember of the dressing up part was that it was equally surreal as what subsequently transpired.

another part i do remember to a certain extent of clarity was about going to a bookstore. upon entering, i couldn't find the japanese section in its usual designated place. it had me worried for moment that it might have been removed, but after a little walking around i found that the section was only relocated and its size reduced -- perhaps to make room for all those other language sections i passed along the way. browsing through the shelves, i found a marimite soundtrack compilation in a tall pink case on the highest shelf, which i pulled down with overenthusiasm, much to the surprise of the other customers. what was it doing there in the bookstore, i had no idea, but despite the absurdly pricey tag, i thought to myself that at least it was cheaper than purchasing the discs separately -- lucky!

.......................why did it have to be a dream?

this type of dream where i obtain some object of desire isn't the first, though. in the past there have been books and manga and books and manga.... and every single time, i always fail to indulge in the contents. :/ but why marimite, i wonder? it's been a long time since i last read/watched it or played the soundtracks (though i did read a shakamite volume earlier this year...).

oh yeah, i also had a dream about getting my hands on the han shin album, though i don't remember if it was also a part of this dream.

.....it has recently come to light to me that yahoo has been indiscriminate with my incoming mail. how many legitimate emails that wound up in the spam folder were vapourised after all this time? >.<
