One of my regulars ( I don't know his name, but he's super quiet, polite, and always says hello and goodbye to me) asked me to help him with an internet problem. He said he was trying to get to a picture of a Star Trek model, and the filter was blocking it due to sexual content. Now I'm a huge Star Trek fan, and I know how sexy the costumes could get. Especially in Enterprise, because the network was doing everything it could to try to save the show from crappy ratings. So I'm a little surprised that it's blocked, because it did show on TV, but who knows what else was on the site. However it's our policy that if someone asks, we take off the filter. So I removed the filter, and clicked the link to test it. I was expecting a boobaliscious beauty, perhaps with green skin, and so I totally didn't expect what popped up on the screen. It was a model.
A model of a shuttlecraft.
At this point my regular flashed me a big grin, because he could tell from the expression on my face that it was not what I was expecting. So there you go, something about a Star Trek shuttle is so obscene, the library filter can't handle it. I knew there was a reason I'm a trekkie. :-)
