(no subject)
second day on the new job. i didn't eat ALL DAY until 10 minutes ago. i scarfed down my sandwich after shopping around D&W - crap, i just realized i forgot to put their name on my check! ha. oops. anyway. so i said i'd be working with adults with developmental disabilities - three days a week i socialize with them, then have tea time/do devotions, then make a craft, then lunch, then socialize some more. that sounds incredibly easy. i mean, i get paid to sit around and talk and watch fantasia and open fruit cups. but it's actually quite difficult. part of me wants to just go back to cenzo's - i actually know what i do there. AND. i'm a busy work kind of girl. i always had something to do at the store, but here i feel like i'm being lazy, but i do'nt know what to do yet! and they're not really training me. i'll admit. i'm a little frustrated. but i'm hoping that soon i'll get into the swing of things. OH, AND, i'm going to have to drive some of the residents in the bus sometimes (like, a big conversion van or something). now, i can drive the van - but, i'm in GRAND RAPIDS. and i have no idea where to go and traffic frightens me. so i need to get used to driving in the big city soon.
anyway. so the other two days i'm doing more "spiritual guidance/mentoring" type stuff. i'm not sure yet what that entails. some of it will be with the residents, and some with the other staff/interns.
i get weekends off.
which means road trips!
so i'm in GR now for the next year or so. exciting and scary. tasha and i don't have our own place yet, but hopefully we will soon...
i'm in the library at calvin theological seminary. kind of like being at hillsdale's library! i'm even standing up at a computer. :^)
that's all for now. i think i'm too mentally exhausted to really think straight right now. i'll be working for ten days in a row until saturday...i'm very much looking forward to my weekend off.
