If you were on a Mac I would reccomend my client, ITS AWESOME. But you aren't so I won't :D

I second the suggestion: Use XChat. The official version is not free for Windows (neither is mIRC, really), but there are free builds available-Silverex maintains the best-known one. More choices here; most of them are free.

I am sad. I use Trillian for all my IM and mIRC-type needs.

Of course, yeah, it can suck. But it's a)free and b) means that I'm not having a bajillion IM programs sitting aboot.

Actually, Trillian has never worked for me. Either it stops working on one program or just refuses to work on anything. XD I only use two messengers consistently anyways. Yahoo and MSN are my staples. ICQ, and AIM just aren't as important...and I HAVE started using X-Chat, thanks to everyone who suggested it :P Even though it looks horrible.
