Five Hundred and Thirty Nine

Last night's Brewers/Astros game was just about the best baseball game I've seen in a long, long time! I listened to the first half at home, then watched the rest at the Turkey's Nest. I ended up chatting with a couple guys, one of whom was a Cubs fan for no apparent reason. I let it slide. He and his friend got into an EXTREMELY heated argument over whether Jason Giambi's apology meant anything or not! It was kind of hilarious. These guys clearly knew each other very well, and were good friends, because if it was two strangers having this argument, there woulda been fisticuffs. The Cubs fan apologized to his friend, and we continued watching the game.

Brewers win!

Then I went to Iona, a bar for non-hipster but non-native Williamsburg folks who are perhaps standing teetering at the precipice of early middle-agedness, and hung out with an ex-roommate of mine who just got engaged. People: her man is a LUCKY MOTHERFUCKER.

Finally, I ended up at Allilostandlulusgator Bar, and had some beers, and talked to some friends about bullshit for awhile, including a nice warm-heated debate about Steinbeck with my friend Aria (she doesn't like him because, it boils down to, she feels people wear him like a lapel pin, without being REAL fans - well she was talking to a guy who's probably read Tortilla Flat 30 times if he's read it once), and at one point we all sang "Left Of The Dial" when it came on the sound system, me and Barker G and Tim Burke and Katie Watkins and Aria Pierce and a couple others... rad times.

Last thing: the Ringers all gave each other black eyes for their photo shoot today. Wow!
