this is a picture from my trip to the LA Times two weeks ago, it was pretty rad we saw this thing called "the story behind the story" where reporters on the staff that covered the Katrina disaster told us about their articles and photographs.
this photographer Robert Guathier was there and he shot amazing photographs and told us this story about this police officer that got caught in the rain and broke into the second story of a house cos thats how high up the rain was and slept in the boys room and left a note saying "sorry i got blood everywhere"
and like police officers would flag down the stolen cars then use the stolen cars as their own vehicles to help out, and they would break into pawn shops and left notes "we took all your guns and ammo sorry,-police force" and yeah just amazing stories of how people survived and helped out in the area.
then we took a tour of the LA Times and now i wanna work there and all this dreamy crap, anyways pictures of that and the JACC competetion i went to.

this guy i believe his name was Tim showed us around the place and showed us this computer that held around 400 famous people who havent died's obituaries just in case they died and they needed this thing out in the paper the next day. they also have a pool every year to see who dies and this guy won a lot of money for guessing reagan haha.
well now the JACC competetion which was held at CSU Fullerton, it was pretty sweet, saw this same photographer from the LA Times again and he did a work shop on his and a few journalist stories on this really corrupt hosipital in LA called Martin Luther King Jr/Drew hospital where they gave people aids and took out peoples organs without telling them and all this awful crap, he took amazing photos of the place.
anyways i entered the news photo comp. and the features photo comp and got 4th place in the news photo comp with this photo:

considering its a soft picture, i had to crop it, it wasnt my first choice to enter into the competetion, there were like 50 some odd people competing with A LOT of expensive camera equipment and it was my first time ever, im pretty pleased that i placed, and im just looking forward to doing a lot better when we go back in April.
the majority of the JACC was for the journalist so the photoj's had a lot of down time, plus we had to get there at like 6:30 so we were all tired and bored:
