Francis needed to drop a paper off onto Gilbert's desk, but he was stopped by the sight of Antonio and Sophie conversing. Strange...he didn't know that they had any relationship other than just being in IA. But, ah whatever. He didn't care so much.

The Frenchman stepped to the door and knocked, peeking in with a curious and friendly smile.

"'Allo, what's going on here?" he said with a somewhat anguished smile (he was still recovering from the hole Arthur had left in his heart).

He waited, though, deciding that it was rude to step in without Sophie's explicit permission to enter.

Sophie froze. This... this could be where the trouble started. Her bosses had been oddly avoidant of each other recently, and while Sophie couldn't quite figure out the reason, she figured since it hadn't quite affected their performance, it wasn't her business.

"Ah, just... just showing Antonio something," Sophie said, maybe speaking a little faster than normal. "Is there something you need, sir?"

That 'something' caught him.

His eyes became more lively and he tilted his head as if he were going to get a better view from an obscure angle.

"Oh? Really? Antonio looks really impressed by whatever it is you're showing him. If it's not too much to ask..." he smiled cheekily, "may I see it?"

Sophie laughed, nervous. Why should she be so nervous, surely her boss would understand her--their--situation, wouldn't he? It wasn't as if she was planning on keeping the two there for more than a day., and it wasn't as if her director was a stickler for the rules.

She hesitated for a moment, biting her lip. Well, he was going to find out, one way or the other. Sophie moved to the side, giving a better view of under her desk. "You may have to move Antonio out of the way."

There was something amiss in Sophie's demeanor. Francis shrugged it off though. It wasn't really his business to question her personal life.

The young woman had given him the okay to look at what Antonio was fawning over. Francis had take that for permission to enter.

The Frenchman giggled and nodded, "Yes, ma'am!"

He skipped inside and put his hands on Antonio's shoudlers to push the Spanish man to the side just enough to see what was so interesting.

Francis eyes widened. His mouth parted, almost as if he were going to scream. But his lips curled into a ridiculous smile and instead of crying in fear, he exclaimed.

"Ohh! Trop mignon!" he cooed in his own language as he spotted the two puppies.

And then he understood why Sophie was acting so nervous.

Sophie's nervous laughter continued. At least he thought they were cute--or at least that's what she thought he thought. That hadn't been the reaction of a man who had a fear of dogs. But still, she wasn't in the clear yet.

"I found them outside in the dumpsters," Sophie said, smiling softly, despite any nervousness. "I didn't see anyone looking for them and they don't have tags. Can they stay in here for the rest of the day, sir? I promise I'll take them home with me."

Francis, bowing to his love for dogs, picked up one puppy and stroked it gently.

When the young woman mentioned keeping the dogs at NationCorp for the day, his first, natural reaction was to frown and flat out deny her for her supposed 'audacity' and her breaking standardized rules. But he had forgotten that he was not talking to a rebellious or overstepping worker, no. And Francis couldn't deny that he himself was not a person who possessed the 'ideal' integrity that NationCorp demanded of its workers. The frown that had initially rest on his face subsided and faded into a gentle, admiring smile.

"It's okay. I don't mind," he said as he placed the puppy back in its place and proceeded to ruffle through it's fur.

He giggled, "I think what you're doing is worthy enough for a few broken rules."

He winked at her and put a finger to his lips, "Your secret's safe with me, Mademoiselle."

Sophie's smile broadened into a beam. So long as the puppies and their antics were confined to the IA offices, no one would throw a fuss. She doubted it would get her fired, but there was always that risk of running amok of a director in a foul mood.

"Thank you, sir," Sophie said, feeling truly grateful. Admittedly, it didn't solve the issue of just where the puppies were going after work...

"Do you know anyone who wants two puppies, sir?" She asked, leaning down to scritch one puppy ear. It was so soft, Sophie could barely believe it.
