The curtains had been drawn back, letting the sunlight stream into the room. The cheerful notes coming from the piano seemed to echo in the small space, adding to the warm atmosphere. It was only 11:00 in the morning, and Roderich had opted to take his first break of the day in the piano room.
Once in a while he felt a need to simply let himself fall into the music without worrying about spectators. An instrument could be the outlet for a musician's emotions, and Roderich had always felt the most comfortable playing the piano while alone. It wasn't to say that he distrusted his beloved cousin--quite the opposite, in fact. He supposed it had something to do with the type of piece he chose to play, as he had no problem using the piano to express his anger in front of others.
Whatever the reason was, Roderich sought refuge in the piano room that particular day, foregoing his usual cup of coffee. His fingers seemed to skip across the keys, drawing the familiar notes of Mozart's Sonata Allegro con spirito from the finely-tuned instrument. Immersed in the song's uplifting nature, Roderich let his lips curl into a small smile as he continued to play.
