Having finished his work for the evening, Kiku sipped a small big of grape soda from his watered down glass. Today had been tiring and what he needed now was something sweet. He stood up, slipping on his coat which had been laying over the chair next to him as he prepared to make his way out into the mild summer air. He slipped on his shoes and opened the door, startled by the sudden appearance of Yong-soo outside of his door.

"Y-Yong-... Yong-soo..." He blushed bright red, remembering what had happened a day ago.

Yong-soo smiled and felt the expression stretch his mouth oddly. The actual expression didn't seem any different, though his eyes betrayed his worry and tension. He almost sharply thrust the box at Kiku. "I- I found a good place for an-pan a while back. I thought you'd like some. You used to like an-pan when we were kids." The words came out in a babbling flurry and he forced himself to meet Kiku's eyes. That at least, he would do.

He felt the bottom of his stomach drop out most unpleasantly as he still stood right in front of the other man's door.

Kiku paused and noticed the box, a soft smile on his lips as he looked at his neighbor. It seemed to be some kind of peace offering and to refuse would be suicidal in the Asian culture-- besides, he loved anpan. He moved back inside and held the door open for Yong-Soo.

"Here, c-come in. I would love some anpan..."

Well, he hadn't really meant for the box to be an excuse but then, he shouldn't be so stupid as to forget that Kiku was so damn observant of his manners. Not that Yong-soo was rude by any means, but he didn't always follow things to the letter, particularly since he had gotten to the United States.

"Oh, okay then." He headed into Kiku's particular sanctum, feeling like he was crossing into odd territory, never mind that he'd been in the apartment before. It was probably something to do with being Asian and male, distinct territories and all that.

He shut the door quietly behind him, slipping his shoes off and moved off over towards his table, clearing room for the box.

"Sorry my table is so messy, you may set them there-- would you like some tea? I will go make a pot." Yong-soo was a guest and Kiku was sure as hell going to treat him like one.

Yong-soo took off his shoes as well, padding in on his socks. He had changed out of his suit but still dressed somewhat more nattily than most even with a t-shirt and jeans. The pink bakery box was neatly deposited there.

"Tea would be good," he said. He sat down and his fingers drummed along the edge of the table. Oh, he was really worried.

Kiku nodded and moved into the kitchen, turning up the heat on his water boiler as he prepared the herbs for Yong-Soo's glass. He soon filled to cup and delivered it to him.

"Sorry, it is nothing special." He sat down in a chair across from Yong-soo, sipping his own tea gracefully. "A-Anpan, huh? Whats the occasion-- I mean, It is rare to come by, thank you very much for thinking of me."

Yong-soo played with the slowly fraying edge of his distressed jeans. He accepted the tea. "Thank you," he murmured, taking a sip of his own.

"I found a decent enough bakery and I just remembered you like them," he replied simply. He met Kiku's eyes as the words faltered in his throat.

Kiku was shy to maintain eye contact as he bowed to Yong-Soo. "Thank you very much. I still enjoy anpan very much in these days." He paused, waiting for Yong-Soo to open the box.

He bit his lip some and closed his eyes, his head bowing again but this time his while chest went with it, obviously showing signs of an apology. "I am so sorry about last night. It was my fault and-- I am sorry! Please forgive me..."

Yong-soo opened the box, seeing that he had brought it. He slit the tape sealing it with his thumbnail, exposing the half-dozen round buns inside, all golden and and glazed. He pushed it over to Kiku to help himself first.

He paused for a little, or he would have, if his mouth didn't instantly open and say, "It wasn't your fault." And it wasn't. It was that bastard Braginski's fault. He mentally counted back from ten.

Kiku blushed hard and bowed once more, shyly as Yong-Soo rejected his apology. "I-If I hadn't been there... I apologize..." I was with a man too...

He noticed the box moved to him, his appetite waning as he retrieved one timidly and set it before him... it did smell good though.

Yong-soo sighed softly. "No. You didn't do anything. It was... a bad circumstance," he finished lamely. He looked at Kiku a little tiredly but in wry humor too (well, more wryness than humor but it was a start). "Ah, I guess this is what you meant when you asked me what it means to be gay, isn't it?"

"Try it. I think it's pretty good and I don't think our tastes have changed that much over the years." Kiku especially. He always seemed so damn... resistant to change.

Kiku wanted to subject to change and so he silenced himself and his apologies; for the moment anyway. He reached forward and took a bun from the box, sinking his teeth into it shyly before hie yes suddenly shot open, spitting it out on the table as Yong-Soo so bluntly asked him that question.

"Wha---!" He couldn't say no, since it was what he was asking but...

Yong-soo had taken a sip of his tea and he in turn nearly spat it out as Kiku reacted so violently. Well then, he hadn't expected that kind of reaction. He blinked a little as he recovered far quicker (not that he really reacted to begin with).

"You asked me that a few weeks ago," he said far too mildly. "When we were at your apartment having dinner." He took another sip of tea. "And well..." He hid his grimace as best he could.

"I-I see. I... uhm..." Kiku blushed a bit harder, quickly using a napkin to clean up his mess. He bit his bottom lip with a weak quiver as he felt his voice waiver. "S-Sorry..."

He took a small bite of his bun, not hungry anymore but using it to avoid looking at his friend across the table. He waited, shivering, wondering what Yong-Soo's next words would be. Was he ashamed of Kiku-- angry with him?

Yong-soo didn't quite sigh. He didn't. Instead, he sipped at his tea and wearily wondered if this was being old was like. To hell with this. He didn't grimace but he did inhale very slowly and carefully. "Why be sorry? It was a valid question. I don't think you liked my answer." And he found it hard to talk about this with Kiku. His sexuality had never been something he had thought of too hard in his life and yet it was tricky discussing it with other people.

"Being gay or not... It's something that you have to figure out for yourself," he said simply. "No one can tell you."
