Arthur grumbled to himself as he made his way down the front stairs of the union center. He hadn't had the best of days and was not looking forward to another bus ride.

As the Brit approached said buss he noticed something of a commotion taking place at the bottom of the automatic doors. By the looks of it, a rather small forgen student had had the misfortune to stumble down the stairs and land on the unforgiving pavement.

Arthur watched with mild interest, waiting for one of the many people exiting the buss to help the poor kid up. Then realization struck, the were...laughing?

Indignation welled up inside him as he remembered the many times in his childhood when he was mocked for his "weird accent".

Before he knew what he was doing, Arthur found himself shoving his way past the rude onlookers to kneel by the Asian man just in time to catch a few papers that were attempting to escape with the breeze.

"Are you alright?"

As the wind picked up he noticed a few pieces of his work flying away, his body tensing up. He went to reach for one when it was stopped...

Kiku looked up, rather surprised to see a man next to him, crouched down and helping him. He blushed hard, moving to sit up better, quickly thrusting his books into his bag, trying to save face.

"Y.. Yes... I, It's just a scrape..." his chin was scraped up and red, a little bloody and dirty from the pavement.

Arthur was genuinely concerned now, "No, you're bleeding, that could get infected, here let me have a look at it..." Arthur moved to touch the smaller man's face, "we should get that taken care of..."

Kiku almost pulled away before stopping himself from being rude. He had never been touched that close to his mouth before. His lip trembled as he turned his head to the side, shyly.

"I-I'll... It'll be fine..." He looked close to tears.

Arthur felt a stab of pain in his heart at the other student's broken expression. Obviously America had not been particularly welcoming.

"Well It doesn’t look too bad," he said ignoring the smaller boy's protests, "I think a Band-Aid should do the trick." Arthur pulled one out of his bag and handed it over.

"I'm Arthur, by the way, Arthur Kirkland," he said, holding out his hand.

Kiku could tell his emotions were spreading onto this man and it only cause him to feel worse. He reluctantly reached for the band-aid and stood up weakly without Arthur's provided hand, afraid to touch him and get to close. He glanced down to the band-aid, not sure if he wanted to open it.

"A-... T-Thank you, really though... you don't need to help me..." He blushed as he gave out his name, Kiku hesitant to do so in such an uncool and awkward position. "Honda... Kiku Honda... I-It's nice to meet you, M-Mr. Kirkland..."

Arthur smiled warmly and retracted his hand, glancing at his watch, "It's almost noon, would you like to get some lunch Kiku?"

As he heard his first name spoken so casually, Kiku's face light up like a bulb again, reminiscent the nose on a certain famous reindeer. He was not accustomed to being invited out anywhere, at least not since he had transferred from Grantford. His voice came out in a rather odd way, stuttering weakly.

"A-Ah... L-Lunch?"

Arthur glanced up at the other man noticing his flushed face, "Uhhhh, yes, lunch, my treat."

He smiled a bit nervously, it looked like Kiku could use a kind gesture today.

Kiku's knees shook some, his whole body reacting to the situation as he was pulled from embarrassment from falling to a sudden rush of anxiety as he was asked to go to lunch. Kiku was not the kind of person one would call social-- or even comfortable around other humans. Kiku was a real piece of work.

"L-Lu.... Lunch? No-- I couldn't accept that-- I.. I was the one who bring inconvenience to you and so... I cannot accept kindness as such." His poor English speaking skills embarrassed him, especially since he was well written.

Arthur simply waved off Kiku's complaints, "no, no, I insist, there is a lovely little cafe around the corner that would be perfect."

Kiku blushed a bit deeper, looking the English man square in the face. He looked away shyly, realizing they were making a scene in the street.

"P-People... are looking... L-... Okay okay..."

"Wonderful," Arthur smiled starting off towards the restaurant with Kiku in tow.
