Apparently a Russian businessman has or is attempting to trademark the ;-) emoticon.
(The trademark does not prevent individual use at least ...)
If (Russia) really does own this emoticon and ignoring the businessman's claims that :-), ;) and other emotes "within range" of his trademark can also fall under his ownership ... which emote would you nation-tans would like to own, and why? (And would you have particular, if at all frequent, uses for it?)
