42.

The correct question would be simply, "What is the answer?" -- or, to be more precise, "Deep Thought, what is the meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything!?"

Yes, it took seven and a half million years to work out that answer.

As expected of England to be the first to reply.

But are you sure about that question? If I recall correctly, they never found out the actual correct question, and ended up making one up to tell the masses~

I'm afraid I misunderstood what you were asking, then; I thought you were asking for the wording of the question asked as it appeared in the book. The wording the computer wanted is still unknown.

E...eto, what is this? Is it not an answer we must wait to find out after death?

There are many ways to look at it, however... I hope we will each find our own meaning in life.

[ooc: ... Sorry about this, but shouldn't No.1 be "what is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything?" no.2 should be -- "what is the ultimate question?" ... ;; / please excuse me; Japan-mun is a bit of a HHG geek D;]

[Hm. Different versions, different wording, I guess. :\ The first time I read it the question was "What is the answer to God, the universe and everything" because it was an earlier version of the book, and it was changed later to not offend people.]

Um, in the movie version, didn't the think the question was "How many roads must a man walk down until you can call him a man?"?

Oh, you've seen the movie? O: I haven't yet *wants to*, but I read that Adams specifically wrote the movie to contradict the books. If it was the version that he had a say on. Hm... *strokes imaginary beard*

Although, no matter what, "How many roads must a man walk down until you can call him a man?" sounds like a much better question than "7x6". |D

As for the question! I'd have to say "what's the best food in the world." Or maybe something else, because kimchi definitely is a suitable answer for a lot of things, wouldn't you agree?
