Oh wow! It's been quite a while since the last, ja? Almost three months of question posting peace!! But down to business..

Lately there has been an increase in threads with chatter between non-nations. Now, we don't mind if you chat with the nations, but if you'd like to chat with your friends you'll have to do it on your own personal journal, NA is ( Read more... )

No threads between non-nations

... am I the only one who seriously doesn't mind if they do this? I don't think anyone has abused their liberty to the extent that it disturbs any of us--it is even possible for a commenter to come up with cool links or something.

*takes note of the new rule though, yes sir*

There have been a few cases where some nation-mun have been disturbed. This is just keeping things in line with nation_asks purpose.

I was wondering about the first rule - is it disruptive if non-nation threads happen at times? I have to admit that I think the different conversations are fun and they seem to create more activity. >>

And I don't know if I'm understanding the second one right - does it mean that this is what's not allowed, for example:

"Nation A replies to a question with an icon of themselves [made by the player specifically for that journal?]. Non-nation-commenter A replies to characters in that post/elsewhere with an icon identical to the one Nation A used."

But that a non-nation would still be allowed to use any Hetalia character icons they'd want to use, as long as there isn't any chance of confusion?

Sorry for needing clarifications. D: *fails*

That's correct on both parts. Even if it does create more activity it diverges from the purpose of nation_ask which is to interact with nations.

Ah, good point. I figured it wouldn't get in the way of nations interacting/also joining in, since I hadn't noticed anything like that myself, but that does make sense.

To be honest, I approve everything. I also think that threads between non-nations are kinda interesting, but sometimes they get a little out of control and someone says something about a character that would make said nation want to complain/comment/interact but you just miss it because the thread is too big and (speaking for myself here) you don't want to read everything.

I love interacting with non-nations, but only one at time because I have to think carefully what would be canon and what would be ooc and this turns to be a difficult task if you have to comment on 3 conversations at the same time.

I strongly agree with what you said, and that's the main reason that I support this rule. Multiple times, I've come across threads by non-nations that were addressed to me at the beginning and/or are talking about America, but by the time I see them they're too overwhelming to properly respond to. Sometimes the non-nations participating in these threads are even like "hey, America hasn't responded yet, he must just not care what we're saying" when he clearly would, I just wasn't able to respond before the threads got to this length because I'm not online 24/7, and then when I DO get online, I don't even know how to handle a whole thread of paragraph or longer posts while staying in-character about it.

There has also been a definite increase of non-nations conspiring against nations in their conversations. I know it's harmless, but it still makes some of us nation-muns a bit uncomfortable. Light teasing directed at a nation every once in a while is one thing. Constantly harassing the character, stalking [even in jest], etc. just gets ( ... )

"ALSO! Yet another new rule! Please do NOT use nation-tan icons if you are NOT that nation-tan unless it was created by someone OTHER than the nation-tan."

THANKYOU. I was going to ask about something on simmilar lines, after all the confusion... it took me awhile to realize some people were actually replying with some of them, I had to go back through threads and check to see which were actually nations and which weren't. xD;; It took away from my valuable Q&Aing time. *nodnod*

I approve of these rules as well. I agree that threads between non-nations are not always disruptive. But it's happened enough times where non-nations have pretty much taken over a post, and you have to dig through tons of comments to actually get to the nation response[s] that are the actual purpose of the question being asked in the first place. I wish there was another way to regulate this that wouldn't be cutting down on non-nation's rights to post so much, but I honestly can't think of an alternative.
