Well, I've seen Germany described as the 'Fatherland'...
...and Russia as the 'Motherland'. Any comments?

I can't say much to that, haven't talked to him yet. But I can't see Germany being much better at parenting.

They are simply terminologies applied to nations and are not to be taken in the literal sense. Though I am not the only one
to used the term fatherland
nor is Russia
the only one to use the term motherland
.
