I just got back from a beach party that... well, Lucy really... threw me. We had hot dogs, and went swimming in the ocean, and got sand in uncomfortable places... anywho, I'm gonna miss my friends, they're super. You all have to keep in touch with me, really. EVERYONE must comment on my entries and keep in touch, and tell me how things are going... sigh... all alone in the land of chocolate, sausage, and beer... with a slight language barrier to deal with. Ha!
Latest update that I failed to mention a few days ago:
- I am no longer living with the family in Bavaria. They dropped out at the last minute... I understand. ;) So... I am not living in the mountains (after I spent soo much money on all those winter clothes!), but I guess it snows EVERYWHERE in Germany, so maybe the clothes will still come in useful.
- My new family lives in Tornesch which is a small town about a half an hour away from (guess where) Hamburg. The dad's name is Ingo and he's a management consultant. The mom's name is Sigrid, and she's a housewife. And now I have an older "sister" who's name is Katharina, 18, and she just got back from spending a year abroad in Alaska. So the family has kind of already experienced the whole foreign exchange student thing, and they'll know what to expect. PLUS, while Katharina was in the US, she picked up on the piano... the family says they don't have a piano yet, but they're gonna see if they can work something out... so maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to continue with lessons... woot woot.
- So, the final word: I leave from LAX on the 22 of July (next thursday), I arrive in Hamburg on July 23 and meet my first family. (The one with Inga-13, and Hendrick-11) They live in a small town, Leezen, east of Hamburg, and I will go to language classes in Hamburg for one month. Then, for the next 11 months, I will stay in Tornesch with the family mentioned above...
PRAY FOR ME THAT ALL GOES WELL!!! I could have the bestest time... if things turn out right.
