I have a grumbly little matter.
In order to attend FushiCon 2011 this month, I need ID as it is a 16+
con (I am 23.) I have zero ID because passports and driving licenses are
just too expensive, and I've had my name changed in the past so
whenever I've desperately needed ID I've had to cart along my birth
certificate and deed poll, and deal with weird stares and periods of
awkward silence.
So, I applied for a Citizen Card, which is photographic ID that is
accepted pretty much everywhere and only costs £15. However, every photo
booth machine thingie under the sun broke when we tried them, so it
ended up really last-minute (they normally take 28-30 working days to
send cards out) and we had to pay £15 for 1-2 working days shipping,
which is just fine and nobody's fault.
However, today I received a letter from CitizenCard saying, "We were not
able to contact your referee, please contact us ands advise on a
suitable time of call or provide alternative referee details."
....AAUUUGGGHHH. My referee was just a random employee of my bank! >:I Because, due to my limited ID, I couldn't use anyone else.
So I've sent them this e-mail via their little online form:
"Hello there,
Today I received a letter stating that I could not be issued my card for
the following reason, "We were not able to contact your referee, please
contact us ands advise on a suitable time of call or provide
alternative referee details."
The referee in question was a staff member at my bank, so I don't
understand how I could possibly provide any more information than they
would have provided on the form that they had to fill out.
There is no way that I can provide alternative referee details (I have
very limited ID at present), and I have no idea how I can make it more
easy for you to contact them.
I am really panicking here, as I paid for express shipping as I need the
card ASAP in order to attend a convention, and now I'm not getting my
card as soon as I should be. A friend of mine who also got a Citizen
Card via express shipping in the past expressed to me that their referee
was never even contacted!
I would truly appreciate your help and cooperation on this matter."
(I mentioned the thing with my friend purely because I am so at a loss and panicking and ugh wtf is wrong with them. >:I)
I need my caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaard. I was hoping to have ID before saturday
so that I could actually have an alcoholic beverage with my meal when
out celebrating my six year anniversary in London (attending the Final
Fantasy: Distant Worlds orchestral concert), but noooo.
