I got a copy of my letter of admission from Yale yesterday via email (they're sending me the original via mail), so that whole thing is finally over. I need to figure out what the next step is. I'm guessing I need to apply for a visa but I've still got a little bit of time. I'll be in New Haven starting at some point in August. Classes start on ( Read more... )

You should definitely still get your visa even if your only going to Yale for a year. :)

I'm definitely getting one. I don't think Immigration will let me into the US otherwise and it's one of the requirements for enrollment. The question right now is just what I'm still missing to apply for a visa / when the right timeframe to do so is.

I think it would be good to figure out quickly what your missing to apply for the visa and get the visa quickly.

I need to wait on more info from Yale. I can't apply for a student visa without them sending me the letter of admission first and according to them, there's several steps me and them have to do before I go to the embassy, so it'll be two weeks at least. But you're right, I'm not going to delay this till the last possible moment.

Yeah. As soon as you can get it done, you should get it done. So you know you have the visa.
