The McScary Album Chronicles #1: Introduction and Background

Feb 23, 2011 02:05

I am going to be using this space to write about the progress of my upcoming album.  In this first entry, I will be speaking about my background and hopes for the new album.

Last year, I released my first full-length album.  It was self produced and I literally did everything on the album myself.  While I was very happy with the end result, there was still a lot lacking on the release.  For one, it was my first attempt at recorded original composition, and I was still learning a lot about electronic music theory at the time, so it was very amateurish in many regards.  Secondly, I was using exclusively freeware to record it, which has obvious limitations.

For this next release, I am getting very serious.  I am completely upgrading my recording studio.  I have already upgraded by software to FL Studio 9 Producer Edition (formerly I was using Madtracker 2 and Audacity), and I plan on getting a pro grade condenser microphone and hardware interface soon as well.  I started writing some demo tracks and lyrics last summer when I was in Seattle (due to my surroundings I was very inspired at the time), and about a month ago I launched into full-fledged song mode and have been programing like crazy.  Right now, here is my tentative album schedule:

February:  Preliminary programing on all songs
March:  Fine tuning song programing, recording of vocals and live instruments
April:  Mixing, mastering, and random catchup time
May:  Digital file conversion, CD burning, label printing and distribution

I am going to pour my very being into this release.  I want to really truly achieve something great with this.
