Wild Weekend of Static, Casualties, and an Investor

Saturday, I went to Toledo and saw the band Static-X perform.  It was a pretty good show, and they sounded really good live.  I was really pleased that the band performed mainly older songs.  Pit was pretty wild, mostly older 200+ lb metalheads slamming around.  This was the first time in years where I was actually knocked down in a mosh pit (repeatedly, might I add).

Sunday, I went and saw The Casualties perform at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor.  The crowd was terrible....venue was less than half full, and most of the people just stood in the back with their arms crossed (why anyone would pay to see a national act and then just stand in the back looking bored is beyond me).  The Casualties surprised me when they first took the stage, as they all had their hair down (I have never seen any of them without 8" spikes before) and the lead singer was wearing a long sleeve Nike sports shirt.  I don't know if it's because of the sparse crowd of if the band just doesn't give a shit anymore, but in addition to that, they put on a very disjointed set, containing multiple songs that ended prematurely due to mistakes, and an abundance of unnecessary covers (including "La Cucaraca").  No encore.  It still had it's moments of fun, but should have been better in my opinion.  Unfortunately, I did get bumped while taking pictures, and now my camera doesn't work.  Bad timing.  Do I try to get it fixed or just buy a new one?

I got home from the show, slept for three hours, then got back up to drive back to Ann Arbor to meet with an investor from NY on Monday morning regarding the company I'm working for.  Quite the contrast getting mashed into a pulp at two shows back to back then going to a business meeting with a Wallstreet guy running on just a couple hours sleep.  Rock and roll > Business
