I had a wonderful weekend. I met 2 people that gave me a very good feeling to talk to/be around them. A Silat instructor with a very strange, hard to pronounce name. For those of you who don't know: Silat is a very obscure Indonesian martial art. He invited me to practice Silat with his Traverse City students. This guy is the real deal. He taught martial arts to Wesley Snipes and lives part time in Indonesia. One of his students told me that he even hangs out with the Prince of Malaysia. I'm gonna go check his class out on Wednesday night. The other man I met is a local guy named Nirinjan Singh. He is someone I really relate to and look up to. He mixes and brews organic teas and natural remedies and educates people on natural, proactive healing, which I am very interested in. He also pracitces Yoga and is very knowledgable and philosophical about Yogi thought, him having studied under an actual guru. i also had a date on Saturday night and am really interested in this girl. She cares about what's happening to the planet and is concerned about the same things I am. She took me to see film about cooperative factories in Argentina. The film showed factories where the workersown and operate these factories without bosses or managers. Everyone is paid a flat salary across the board and all decisions are made in council. This is the very type of situation capitalists say will never work, and yet it's been working fine for these Argentinians as they emerge from the mess Menem left behind after he sold their country out to big business.
I gotta go to the library and start a paper due for Saturday.
Peace and love,
