Yet more Brazil?

Hello again everyone,

In order to save your friends page, I have decided to place everything behind a

Alright, where to begin. Well yesterday we went to the beach and then to see more of my cousins in copa cabana. I don't have any pictures to update from there because they are all on Tina's camera, but I can show you some fun things that we saw on the way instead.

This is an ad for dominoes pizza that was on the side of a building in Rio. Tina said it's advertising their new "thin and crispy" pizza. Somehow I don't think we'll be seeing that one on an american billboard anytime soon.

This is my cousin Tina's car. I would say that it's deceptively spacious inside, but I would be lying. The strange thing (well I suppose it's probably only strange to americans) is that all the cars here look like that. And apparently VW and Brazil love eachother, almost every car you see is made by volkswagon.

On to a better description of Tina's house, because maybe someone cares. Also it's a good lead in for talking about differences between US homes and Brazilian ones.

Here is Tina's front yard. The house itself is 2 stories with a pool and 4 bedrooms. The first thing I noticed about Brazilian homes is that they aren't sealed up like US houses are. The windows are open all the time and aren't weatherproofed and you can see light between the wood paneling in parts of the house. This makes the homes much more open to the nice weather, but also much more open to the mosquitoes.

Brazilians also couldn't seem to make up their mind when it came time to choose a power outlet, so they just went with both. Thankfully its still a 110 line so everything works without a converter. And those sideways things are what switches look like. And you thought US outlets looked like a face.

And finally, some shameless posting of nice looking things:

This is the view from Tina's front yard. I still find it amazing to look around outside and see mountains. It was really pretty last night when it was foggy and you could just barely make out the tips breaking through the clouds.

Here is Tina's dog Luna. She is pretty much the same as any other dog except that she speaks Portuguese.

I'll get you all some pictures with people in them soon.

Oh and I keep forgetting to mention this but for some reason (and I'm not sure if this is a Brazilian thing or just a Tina thing) every meal comes with cake. Mmmm cake!

Later
_Nathan
