Sectumsempra

I finished Half-Blood Prince last night. Now that the shock has subsided (and for what it's worth, I even dreamt about it; I don't think that's ever happened to me with a novel before) I'm ready and eager for some discussion and debate.

No-holds-barred spoilers and speculation behind the cut. You have been warned. )

Wow. That's a hell of a theory on the polyjuice potion. You may be onto something there. I initially suspected that Snape was the half-blood prince, but then decided that he wasn't when it was mentioned that the book was 50 years old, and Snape wasn't the right age for that to fit. The book having belonged to his mother first, though.

And the textbook market, I think, is more an issue in colleges. High schools and middle schools tend to hang onto books for longer, since the things are damn expensive. How long a wizarding school would hang onto books, though, who knows?

Yes, Ron/Hermione was inevitable and very amusing, as was Ron's relationship (if you can call it that) with Lavender. That'll teach Ginny to pick on him for being inexperienced. And, yeah, the break-up hurt. Typical self-sacrificing hero pushing people away from him. Never mind that Death Eaters could just as easily use Ron or Hermione to get to him and he's not rejecting their help. My money says Ginny will find a way to tag along when Harry, Ron, and Hermione and help out regardless of what Harry says.

I'm sure Ginny will go along, as will (I hope) Neville and Luna. I mean, they're all part of the gang now.
