Earth: 198X

Sometimes my sickeningly indiscriminate sponge-like memory and the Internet collide in astonishing ways. Spurred by a half-remembered music video that A) was in heavy rotation on "Nick Rocks", B) included stop-motion dinosaurs playing rock and roll, and C) might have included the word "runaway," I embarked on a Google expedition. After meandering through some mysterious websites, I was able to identify the title and artist: "Runaway" (see, I was right!) by Luis Cardenas (who?). A little more digging, and...

Luis Cardenas's professional website, including streaming video. I was able to watch "Runaway" for the first time in... oh, close to twenty years, and learn to my surprise that it was actually a cover of Del Shannon's classic. All these years, and I never knew. Witness the madness of '80s cheese rock, not to mention Cardenas's world's biggest drum kit, right here.

As a special bonus, Mr. Cardenas also gives you streaming video of "Hungry For Your Love," in which he is verbally abused on an airplane by Phyllis Diller and then pursued by a sexy weretigress. You know you can't miss this.
