Varing degrees of craptacular STUFF!
1. Oh Maradona, you beautiful, dumb fuck-up of a man. For someone who could play the game so brilliantly, you run your life to crap the same way you played. Two coke overdose induced heart attacks and STILL you dont realise your life is precious. I hate to love you #10.
2. I really, really want to go on a rant about "War Crimes". The big news here in Australia is that David Hicks, an Australian charged in Packistan for terrorism by the US/Coallition forces, held in Guantanamo for over 5 years WITHOUT BEING CHARGED was formally charged a few weeks ago and just this week pleaded guilty. His plea bargain meant he was OUT of Guantanamo "hell" and is being sent home to Australia to finish out serving his sentance.
My rant comes in that, quite frankly, I dont give a FUCK if he was guilty or not. I am SO SICK TO DEATH of hearing about "war crimes". What the fuck do people expect? Flowers and wine over the battlefield? ITS WAR! Attrocities happen, people make choices. Its not the US government's right to decide his choice was wrong. Not any other governement's right either.
He was in a country in the middle of a war... He chose a side and fought for his beliefs. Then a "peace keeping force" was sent in, WITHOUT the United Nations sanctions. The fact that its a peace keeping force kind of makes in a contradictions by its very own terms.
And its not just David Hicks who I have this issue with... The Halocaust... Yeah... It DID happen, but christ... Hunting down Nazi's after the fact to charge them with "war crimes"? I can admit, yes, quite a few Nazi's deserved the treatment that they gave out returned in triplicate. Im not talking cruelty for crueltys sake here. But really, at the time? What else were they supposed to do? How else were they supposed to act when going against the Third Reich meant worse would happen to them and their family? When you're caught in the moment, you dont think you have much of a choice in the matter... Not everyone was Schindler.
I guess a big part of my issue with it all is, 'its the winning side that writes history'... Its also the winning side who think theyre oh so right and correct in THEIR models of behaviours. Just no. People should get to make their own choices and live without fear of reprisal for having a veiw different to someone elses. That should go both ways.
Ok... On a slightly lighter note...
3. My job! I am starting to like it... I like that you can pretty much wear whatever you want... Business suit one day, jeans the next. As long as you are neat and clean, they dont care. I'm starting to like the actual job more too... Now that I'm actually doing stuff and not sitting around bored out of my mind.
4. My legs need desperately waxing. Really, its lucky its been long pants weather, cause otherwise things could have been very different lately.
5. I didnt get to watch FNL tonight cause the download took oh... well, its, over 5 hours and still going right now. Will probably take 8 hours or so. No, that is not normal... But I'm dling Jerich at the same time... Oh well... Looks like tomorrow night will be a boring old friday night watching Friday Night Lights. Oh... That was not intentional, but now I read it... Ha! I like it.
6. The latest ep of House MD had me giggling all over the place... Ok, so now its more than just my bias against Riley on Buffy, but that guy cant act. And Chase and Cameron... Oh... theyre CUTE! Its funny.
