Well,
Here it is ten minutes after eleven on National Peace & Amends Day. I rember when it first began.
The origin of the movement itself I suppose. It was just me and K-9 Lu Lu Belle back than. We
were on the first leg of our Activate America Road trip and was somewhere out there in the
middle of the Mohave Desert driving down the highway in "Old Thunder" when it came to me
like an epiphany near Devils Peak.
"National Peace & Amends Day!"
What the heck does that mean. I wasn't sure. It just came to me out of the clear blue sky in
te middle of the Mojave Desert. "Old Thunder", K-9 LuLu Belle, and I were on our way back
home to Northern Michigan to spend the summer with my Mom on her ten acre plot of land
called, "Cunningham Pines". "Old Thunder was my 1972 Customized Hot Rod Van. I used
it as my Mobile Publishing House to publish the first and second revised manuscript edition
of "Life in the Pines, a Novel for our times. It was one hell of a nice van. It was life guard
orange with chrome mag rims. And the reason I called it, "Old Thunder" was because of
it's Hooker Headers and dual exhaust pipes. It must have had an exhaust leak somewhere
because when ever I was driving down the highway doing forty five miles an hour,or more,
I could take my foot off the gas pedal and make it roar like thunder through a canyon. It
was funny because when ever some non driving nin com poop would cut me off, or be
doing fifty miles an hour in the fast, or passing lane, I d swoop up behind them like a
mythological modern Greek God riding in the chariot of a bright orange sunset and take
my foot off the gas pedal deliberately to make "Old Thunder'" bark like a Gunshot and roar
at the nuisance in front of me. Man, you should have seen the way people responded by
jumping up startled in their drivers seat, looking back at me smiling at them in their
rearview mirrors as they immediately got the point I was making to get the hell out of
my way and heed the right of way to the passing motorists. It was a crying shame that
day several years later when the Palo Alto Police Department responded to a Merchant
Hate Crime in progress and impounded "Old thunder" in the auto pound, K-9 Lu Lu bell
in the City Animal Control Shelter, and ultimately me in the Santa Clara County Jail.
Anyhow, it wasnt until the end of our cross country road trip when we got back home to
Boyne City Michigan and Cunningham Pines that I wrote the preamble for National
Peace and Amends Day. It was the first thing in my life that I ever wrote that truly moved
me so deeply that I began what I called "the Campaign for a Greater America".
, Catch the Vision of our Three E Principle for a Greater America;
Education - Empowerment - Equality
Now here we are nearly ten years later and so many things have happened since I began
the campaign.
somebody tell me whats a tag!
