Well, they had a good run.
I've had my glasses for who knows how long (I'm not 100% certain when I got them. A long time ago. Maybe 7 or 8 years ago). But last week they broke. I wasn't even doing anything violent with them. I was just sitting in a chair and I was adjusting them on my nose when the bit between the lenses (that goes over your nose) broken. It just snapped. Which, for the record, is a very poor place for a pair of glasses to break. It took some tape (which had to be changed a few times) and a rubber band to get them semi-serviceable condition (i.e. I can actually see with both eyes. Very important if you wish to drive anywhere or work). They were rather painful at times and they looked really silly on me, but they had to do until I could get new glasses.
Ah, new glasses. Not as simple as just buying new glasses. Since it had been years since I've had an eye appointment (and since I'm moved across the country since then), I had to get my eyes checked before I could buy new ones. So, after a total of $300 spent (and waiting a week for my glasses to arrive), I can now see just fine and don't look like a fool. Huzzah.
