soothing to the eye
mastodon rocked my stuff last night. the best part was getting in for free! josh and i went to aris' to get tickets, it was about 7:30 when we got there and the show started at 6:00. the guy said the venue already picked the tickets up. dammit we were pissed, that meant we were going to have to pay $17.00 instead of the $14.00 price. we got to the orbit room, walked to the ticket window and the guy in front of us said "hey, you guys going to the show?" and then he just handed us tickets for free!?! what the hell? i'm still not too sure how that happened. having $17.00 to spare, we both got tee shirts.
i really like mastodon, and ibet they make a lot more money off a $15.00 shirt then a $17.00 ticket when 2 other bands are playing. preistess was ok, they were like a metal version of aerosmith. converge was aweful. i couldn't believe that people liked them. mastodon was great. aside form some equipment issues towards the end of the set. there was a big jock moshing jerk pushing the little guys around. he was bigger than me and i'm 6' 200 pounds. we got into a shoving match and i knocked him on his ass. josh had the assist. my guy tripped over the guy josh had just pushed over. he was a big guy and i was kind of scared to run into him after the show. but we did and i guess he was more scared of me because he went out of his way to get around us. i don't know what was better, smoking that guy and having all the people around us gimme high 5, or getting in for free.
