On an Enlightened society -

Mar 25, 2007 23:33

I am tired of racists, of ethnocentrists, of people who make sweeping assumptions so they can sleep at night.

I am tired of elitist consumers, of self-righteous heir-apparents, and of self-serving pretentiousness.

I am tired of cynics, pessimists, and the weak excuse that "we cannot actually achieve anything, so why try?"  We can.  And I do.
I dream of an enlightened society where people follow the spirit of rules, not out of fear the consequences of violating them, but out of understanding and belief in them, where people celebrate knowledge instead of the conceit of it, and we try to help one another acquire it because it is good, not just for oneself, but for all of us.
