The form of writing
Writing cannot exist without a physical object onto which it can be set down. A complex connection unites the two. The surface comes first, prior to the represented signs. Whether it is something arbitrarily chosen from existing things or a created artifact, it is a space that had to be invented and accepted and integrated within society.
