I watched a movie recently, "The Village". I really liked it. Most of you may remember when I was selling log furniture that the Amish made. I had an opportunity to meet 4 different Amish Communities around Michigan. Kerry and I actually went to a Sunday Church service just north of Cadillac, invited by their minister. It seems that they really live a simple life, "Apart from the world". I really admired how they depended on one another and were like a big family. That is what I got from the community from the "Village".
Trying to find that balance, between separation from the world and being Of the world can be a tricky thing as a Christian. Some days I wish I could be going to a Christian university, like Liberty in Virginia, and live on campus and totally submerge myself amongst believers. That's how it is when I go to our denominations bible camp in North Dakota, (with the exception of the new campers). But then how would one evangelize to the lost world. So, then I desire being "down with the down and in". But then one runs the risk of falling away. So it's all about that balance. Tricky tricky.
You know, all of last year in Lansing, there was really only two guys who I hung out with that were not professing Christians. California Kris (from work, at Terry Hart paint)and John G (the comic book artist who works at Sears in Frandore that E Vandrake introduced me to). Evangelizing, hmmmm, well I did ask both if they would like to go to River View with us on Saturday night. Evangelizing by example, man, that is a little harder, being that I did usually have a bottle of something in my hand while spending time with them. But they did know my hart for the Lord. I'd hope that the seeds I planted will sprout. But I can't help but feeling like I need to grow stronger in my Evangelizing skills. Any ideas from you all? I know that many of you have the same desire to reach out to others. Let me know
God Bless,
-Nate
