To be fair, I really haven't been using the computer much lately other than to store the pictures Dom and I keep taking. Actually, I wasn't even sure we still had internet until I poked my email this morning - I'm fine Irene, and we'll be coming to stay for a few months about the middle of April, so start getting used to the idea Ms. Freeride - and lo and behold the Himaleyas of email had jammed up my inbox.
You really don't know how busy two small children are going to make you until you actually have them.
Anyway. Laz's back in school and going to be in a pagent the school's doing next week. He gets to be the blue crayon. Dom was - unsurprisingly - pushing for purple, but I think the boy's kindergarten teacher even scares her. So blue he is. I'm just thankful they didn't put him in the white crayon. That would have been problematic for pictures. Although, great blackmail material if any of them had turned out.
GW was down last weekend for Liv's naming ceremony. It went really well. I mean, strangely, he's one of my oldest friends in this century, and he was solely responsible for introducing Dom and I, so it made sense that he got stuck with the honor. Although, he seemed pretty pleased that all the blood rites Dom had horrified him with didn't actually take place. And Maria was quite pleased to see him.
He also brought back the idea of the job at SHIELD. It kind of got spectacularly blown last year, and I'm honestly surprised he invited me back. Still. I think that both Dom and I are people who need something to do with our time. Not that the kids don't take up a lot of it, but... we need to do something adult. Hell, Scott's teaching this year, and Jean's doing her pre-med quals as I type. My family is not one to sit around and relax for long stretches of time. (Well, except you, Rachel. Where ARE you, anyway? Call me.) Dom and I have also been going back and forth on her job offer from V. I think it's a good idea for her, but I'm reasonably worried. Admittedly, I'd be worried about her whenever she was gone anyway. Still. I think she's going to take it. It will be good for her, although she's made it clear that she's not going to be doing it until she's through this next round of physical therapy and Liv's able to sit up herself. Which, considering she's making great strides towards rolling over, is probably in the reletively near future.
And so I will be going back to SHIELD for the next round of recuits set to start in the middle of April. Dom and I will be relocating back to New York for at least the three months of training and then we'll see where we're at and where we want to be. As it stands, we've decided that I should be doing two rotations of agents a year. That will put us in New York from the middle of April until the middle of June and then from the beginning of June to the end of August. That would get us back here for Laz's school year and the worse winter months. Dom refuses to be near snow in something other than a vacation capacity.
Still.
Liv's naming ceremony went well. It isn't a very complex thing, but it felt good to do it. Like I was making my big sister proud in a way. And honoring my heritage. Or something. Still. It felt good to do something like that, even though the Askani were parts a pain in my neck and a long-dead cult. But she is officially Livia Grace Dayspring with full clan affiliations should she ever get kidnapped into the far future. (If she is, time and space are getting ripped to flonqing shreds before five minutes even pass for her. Just sayin'.)
And watching GW try not to drop her was hysterically funny. Although, Liv did really love her uncle GW. She even caught a four-hour nap while snuggled into his neck. Dom went nuts with the camera. I think Hammer's got copies out to every mercenary under his supervision. (Along with a note that if anyone of them even thinks about touching the baby, they'll be a bloody smear accross the geography.) Oh, I can't wait for Fury to get his copy. The mocking factor alone will be fantastic.
At any rate, I am going to go fix lunch for the wife and have something ready for Laz for when he gets home from school. Anna's bringing him by in a couple hours. After the cooking, the girlchild and I are going down to the pier to sit in the shade with Juan and the granddads. Ahh, low stress day ahead.
