Registration Report

Well, folks, Festival of the LARPs 2007 is still a few weeks away, but I have to say, things are looking pretty good.  We're up to 62 registered attendees - that's almost 3 times as many as last year!

Based on these encouraging numbers, I've plotted out a prediction for the future attendance of Festival:

That, Nat, is just special.

Does this mean the Foam Brain staff is going to have to be like 10 thousand people to run our share of games?

Clearly! But I wouldn't worry about it. Plotting out a similar trendline for Foam Brain staff members, you're going to surpass the population of the United States by... oh.... 2045.

Despite my planned retirement from larp writing in 5-6 years, I will gladly come out of retirement to write and run a 154,581 player LARP in 2016 should your attendance numbers reach those lofty heights.

You're retiring? Awwwwww... :(

But I'm glad you're going to run a game just for us anyway. I'm just worried we'll only get to 154,580!

It's going to be a slow, prolonged retirement. I decided that I wanted to stop writing larps when I turn 45, but I have 4-5 standalone weekend larps yet to do, so it might not be until I'm 46 or 47.

And yeah, I'm not going to come out of retirement for a mere 154,580 player larp. 154,481 or nothing!

Wow. When we get up to 11,400 attendees, demographically speaking, there will probably be enough fandom crossover for me to finally run that Neon Genesis Evangelion/American Gothic/Fraggle Rock crossover I've been considering.

Since, after all, once we get up to those kinds of numbers every other game in that time slot will have a waitlist in the 100-150 range, which is about the only circumstance in which someone would sign up for that ...

Fraggle Rock?!! Fuck yeah, sign me up!

I may have to write that now, though I think it'd be destined for a 10 Bad LARPs run ...

Well, in the year 2029, when we have 12,462,213,956 attendees, we'll have surpassed the current population of Earth. Also, we'll have almost 50% extraterrestrial attendance, all in one fell swoop!

You could piggyback it onto Intercon Delta, which could feature a "change in position" theme.

Excellent.... While I've always wanted a mindless horde, LARPing hordes are even better.

However, they minions will be LARPing without me. This makes me sad. (;_;) But I am sure they will crush our enemies, seen them driven before them and hear the lamentations of the women.

(Except for those who are women, in which case they will hear the lamentations of the men. I am all about equal opportunity in my hordes.)
