Having claimed five prizes already and being only two entries from cover-ups on my remaining two cards, I further withdraw from the
exchange_bingo. I have had great fun, but there should be gifts left for others as well.
The exchange was great and some stories and art took my breath away. Our community bursts with amazing talent that is watched over by fantastic mods. I thank both the
sshg_exchange and
exchange_bingo mods for running the fun this summer. They all undertook much greater challenge than us, the users, and I humbly bow to their patience and professionalism.
On a personal note, RL played with us this summer. Children (8) grew up overnight seemingly. Their personalities and especially opinions changed drastically and they are much more mature now. At times, comparable to an American student who came for a research stay to my workplace and lived in our house. Mr N teased me that I now have a third son. We have been through a lot, and I have to keep reminding myself that he will be alright facing the big, nasty world as he is in fact returning home from it.
I injured my calf playing tennis. Torn some tissue deep inside that bled quite a bit. Basically no moving around for over a month, only short distance walks. The bruises nearly disappeared now and I tried to play 3min rhythm boxing on wii today. Not good, my ladies. My calf is letting me know of its existence. As most fun involves moving around for me, this has been one boring summer. Reading and films can take one only thus far. Mowing my meadow was hard work, being nearly an invalid. Took me about two weeks and Mr N had to help me with hay in the end despite his allergy.
Work has been busy, but as always, there is little to attest to it. There are things held off by someone else. Reviewers, co-authors, PIs. At least, my table is cleared of the most pressing matters. It will clutter again soon enough, or rather a big pile of dung was thrown on it yesterday. Heaved it off, mostly under the carpet. It's going to come out and bite my head off soon - on Sunday, when I meet a bunch of topical VIPs before a conference hits on Monday. The rhythm boxing gave it perspective though. It will bite anyway, so why bother until it does?
On the novel front, there was no progress. Reading in English and writing in Czech seem to be mutually exclusive. So, I'll bid you farewell for a few weeks and see if that improves my writing discipline.
