So far this year, we've dealt with 2 cases of stomach flu (adults, not kids), 1 broken stove that had to be replaced, a huge piece of our siding coming off the house, and a completely flooded basement. January/February have been my "hey, let's fall into a deep depression" months for the last few years, but luckily, I seem to be holding on to my sense of humor so far. Cross your fingers for me.
And the more things change, the more they stay the same. First day of class at Nazareth today, I walked into class, said hi, and sat down since it's a 6 student seminar. There were 4 students already chatting with each other, when one asked "So, does anyone know anything about the person teaching this class?" I raised my hand and said "That would be me". She turned beet red. The 2 other students walked in then, and that student was quick to inform them "That's the professor". They all kept on staring at me.
FWIW, I dressed down today due to the ice storm. Plus I got a new triple helix piercing in my right ear last Saturday. After it heals, I'm getting a custom made spiral put in. I should wear a nametag on the first day of class.
Now, I have to go back down to the smelly wet basement to cut up carpet. Yay, blisters.
