It's going to be 70 degrees in Houston. I haven't experienced 70 degree weather in months! I'll probably run around in a miniskirt to celebrate. And my beloved Birkenstocks.
I'm so glad the semester is over. I still love teaching, but I definitely need some down time. These last few weeks have been filled with stomach viruses, birthday party planning, grading, and attempting to get a diagnosis on some medical issues. I feel like holing up for awhile. But, instead, I need to get the family ready for travelling. I'm so looking forward to this trip.
Unlike Annie, I have done no baking at all until today. Kate came over to make me try this new cookie recipe she found. I was irritated because she said "I think you'll like them, they're Thai". Sigh. Anyway, they were Russian Tea Cakes with lime zest and coconut. Not that any Thai person would be baking Russian Tea Cakes. I have to admit that I loved them so much that I called her to get the recipe. Being Kate, she then came over with all the ingredients. I feel bad about complaining about her so much since she is really kind hearted. I'll keep on letting her think that I'm a total incompetent about household stuff since it makes her feel good to help me.
Speaking of incompetent, the house looks like it imploded. The stairs are so gross that I only step in the center of every step so that I don't get dustbunnies and spiderwebs on my feet. I am going to try hard to get motivated to clean the house tomorrow. It's tough since I would rather do just about anything else. Except shovel the driveway that is.
BTW, I finished grading yesterday at 12:45 pm. I just checked my work email and already 3 students are contesting their grades. Not changing them. Nope. In fact, I didn't check my work email over the semester break.
