We're still alive over here, over here now being over there. Except for the hardwood flooring that an old highschool friend put down and the fifteen foot hole in our backyard that now houses the new septic system, Jim and I have been totally DIY'n the new house. We tore down the carport ourselves, sustaining only a few smashed fingers. Jim's a mad painter! I rock the miter saw and replaced all the floor molding by hand! And, all by myself, I hung sheet rock for the first time and replaced an entire wall!!! We're moving forward little by little, loving the new place. It's so rad to walk just a block down the hill, sit on the piers and sink our feet into our 8 mile lake, and drop our fishing lines in. The woods are just a block the other way; a short walk in takes you to the lake shore. We fed ourselves on fresh caught brook trout all spring and most of the summer; I'm stoked to see what bounties Lake Hopatcong has in store for us. We all feel like we're floating on cloud nine in our tiny little house with its bright bold colors and its now working septic system. We're grilling fresh foods for dinner, sweatin' out the work, drinking a lot of cheap canned beer, learning a ton and gaining confidence in our potentials. We've been sleeping on air mattresses for the last month, busting ass day and night to get our rundown house into move-in condition. Now we just have to pack up Washington! Hope all is well!
