but with a twist...
we arrived at the St Kilda Bowlers and met up with
blithespirit and had a chat. My old editor from Sydney came over and surprisingly said hello after four years of no contact (it ended badly and is a long story involving lesbian BDSM politics and money). We had a nice catchup and although there is unfinished business there, I think the foundations of a bridge have been built. The wedding DVD played and when the groom and bride said their heartfelt vows I had a little cry (yes Mistress is a sook). The food started to come out and I must say,
libertinewoman excelled herself this time, well done honey!!! I met a fantastic woman called B who was told to look for me, she was a TCM/acupuncturist/shiatsu practitioner biker who'd written and published books on the subject and who also happened to also be jewish and who's husband was a gorgeous hawaiian shirt wearing, softly spoken flying whitegoods engineer. The caramel was in heaven cause he'd found someone he could talk to while I gigged around with the fabulous B and made another new friend.
But here's the twist - the bride and groom didn't make it to their own wedding. They were riding down from Sydney where the ceremony was and had an accident in Saturday's heavy rains. Groom is currently in hospital with his leg broken in four/five places, the bride is fine (she executed a stunt woman type throw and roll of the bike as it went down) but a hell of a way to spend a honeymoon! We had speeches via a mobile and PA system, which was hard to hear but we got the gist of it, and we valiantly partied on as if they were there *hand to forehead* There seems to be a theme, nothing ever happens by halves in my friends lives either.
