Concert review and pictures behind the cut!
So we got ready at Talena's and took some pictures. Her whole family was there for Easter dinner and thought we were hilarious.
And when we were finished making the shirts of course then I came up with one I like even more (In a world of long red carpets, the bright lights of Hollywood)
I drove to Copps (blasting Carrie the whole way of course) and we had to drive around a bit to find parking. We found a lot a block away with a sign that said $4 parking anytime. So we went in and the lady had taken a scrap piece of paper and written "Event parking $15"
Clearly we weren't paying $15. We left the lot and right next to the entrance was meter parking and it was free since it was Sat. The lady gave us a dirty look as we walked by because we didn't pay her $15 for a piece of pavement.
We went in and found our seats....
Not great but not bad!
Then we decided we wanted tour programs so we went back out and made Jill stand in the mob of people and we stood off to the side. A lot of people starred at our shirts as they walked by. There were some girls who made crappy iron on shirts who passed us. And other girls with shirts that said "I got wasted at Carrie" (Wasted is he title of one of her songs if you are not familiar)
One lady stopped to compliment us on the shirts. She said she saw us going through the crowd and she appreciated our effort (???)
After Jill got our programs we went back to the seats to wait.
Josh Turner came on and I just have to say he may have the most gorgeous speaking voice. It is so low and he has an amazing accent. He was pretty good. I only recognized 1 of his songs but the rest were good.
He actually came on slightly early. He played for about 30 mins or so. Then they turned the lights back us and we waited for Carrie. The girl sitting beside us on the left was so drunk and she was hilarious. She thought we were the best people she had ever met. She took this really cool picture of the backs of our shirts that is posed really differently. But it is on Nikki's camera. The people behind us who were all in their 30's or so and they got a kick out of us.
At 5 minutes before the show started a countdown came on...
And then the crowd started doing the WAVE for the whole 5 minutes before she came out.
There was a video intro thing of a desert on the screen then the music to Flat on the Floor started and she came up on an elevator from below the stage a la Idina in No Good Deed.
After Flat on the Floor she talked for a bit and said how she always watches the crowd from backstage before a show to see how they are going to be and that when she saw us doing the wave she knew it was going to be a good crowd!
She played the guitar on 2 or 3 songs... for the life of me I can't remember which one this was.
We were having WAY too much fun!
The whole Just a Dream/Jesus Take the Wheel/Ain't in Checotah was my fave section. She came out in the gorgeous gown and was standing on a platform that was lite from beneath for Just a Dream and Jesus Take the Wheel
Then she started Ain't in Checotah anymore, with an intro about the town and as soon as the song got fast the bottom of the dress flew off and it was short. I so called that the bottom would come off too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1VqqczxQgU Not my video... but watch the dress. My video of it is on Facebook if you want to see.
Then she changed and did Last Name, Crazy Dreams and the Some Hearts Medley, All American Girl
She ended with So Small... and most people were sitting down because it's a slow song. And in the middle of it, during the bridge where she has this crazy note. We all jumped up and sung the bridge and the people behind us who thought we were amazing stood up and gave us a standing ovation in the middle of the Carrie concert.
She came back on for the encore in a Hamilton Bulldogs jersey and sung Nov Rain/Paradise City which was AMAZING! She should do more rock stuff. And then ended with Before He Cheats.
The traditional confetti at the end of the show...
The whole show was amazing. She sounds so much like on the CD because she can actually sing. She didn't talk much during the show. She said some stuff at the beginning, she talked about Ace (her dog) before the More Boys I Meet and there was a spiel about finding Prince Charming. She mentioned the Grande Ole Opry thing from last week before she sung I Told You So.
After we had to get back to our car by going around the back of the building and there were about 5 tour buses parked out there and trucks, and more in the garage below. So we decided to hang around for a bit to see what would happen because we had nothing better to do. We were able to wait inside for about 20 mins (it was cold and we didn't have jackets, only zippies) and there were 2 other girls waiting in there too. They asked us if we were waiting to see if those buses were Carrie's and we sarted talking and one girl was like "There's only 1 person who I think is better than Carrie and that is Idina Menzel!" I was in shock... what are the chances?!
Then we got kicked out. There was a group of about 8 people by the parking garage being obnoxious and yelling at any work guys who went by to bring out Carrie. We were hanging off to the side a bit and we politely asked a group of guys if she was still there. And they said honestly they had no idea, because they rarely ever see her, but she does her meet and greets first so she was probably long gone (this was 45 mins after the show ended) But we talked to them for a bit, they were headed to Indian next and kept complaining how damn cold it was here. Although they were in Ottawa on Fri and they said they had never seen so much snow before. They were nice guys. Then as we were walking away one of the Copps security guys pulled us aside and said that it was just over the radio that her bus had left from a whole different entrance. He told us we could still wait if we wanted but we looked cold and he didn't want us to freeze. He was a nice guy. So we left and went back to the car. And we had tourble getting back to where we were suppose to be because Hamilton is all 1 way streets.. about 15 mins later we drove by Copps again and the obnoxious group was still there yelling for Carrie from the middle of the street. Oh well...
We did take this tho...
I kinda want to go to a Michigan concert of hers or something.. I can't wait to see another concert. We want to go to CMA fest in Nashville this year but it's the same weekend of the dance show. Booo... maybe next year.
Cookies if you read all that... or even looked at it!
If you don't read the Carrie stuff you at least need to read about the Idina moment.
When we were hanging arond the tour buses, we wer still inside to door of Copps at this point becuse it was SO cold. There were these 2 other girls standing in there. They asked us if we were waiting to see if those buses were Carrie's and we sarted talking and one girl was like "There's only 1 person who I think is better than Carrie and that is Idina Menzel!" I was in shock... what are the chances?!
