I am doing very well, thank you for asking, but woke up this morning realizing that when I wrote "Henry James" I really meant to write "Henry Miller," and am now embarrassed. That picture on your mug is Miller. Forgive me? :-)
Say...did you turn on your IP address logging because of, uh, anonymous posters like me? All you have to do is ask. Really.

the human brain is weirdly constructed, so I read Henry Miller instead of James when you first mentioned the mug picture. go figure! so had then to double check that you actually wrote James )))
so I enjoy corresponding with you, and am asking: who are you?

Here, as a (gift? apology?) I give you one of my favorite poems by a Welshman relocated to the US:
No One Told Me
by David Whyte
No one told me
it would lead to this.
No one said
there would be secrets
I would not want to know.
No one told me about seeing,
seeing brought me
loss and a darkness I could not hold.
No one told me about writing
or speaking.
Speaking and writing poetry
I unsheathed the sharp edge
of experience that led me here.
No one told me
it could not be put away.
I was told once, only,
in a whisper,
“The blade is so sharp-
It cuts thing together
--not apart.”
This is no comfort.
My future is full of blood
from being blindfold
hands outstretched,
feeling a way along its firm edge.
